Why Women Choose long-term Protection
Long-acting contraceptives offer a level of reliability and convenience.
Less to remember
Set it once. No daily pills, weekly patches, or monthly refills. Your contraception works quietly in the background.
Over 99% effective
LARCs are among the most effective contraceptive methods available. More reliable than pills, condoms, or injectables.
Fully reversible
Fertility typically returns within weeks of removal. A LARC does not affect your ability to become pregnant in the future.
Hormone-free option
The copper IUD works without any hormones. An excellent choice for those who prefer non-hormonal protection.

FAQs
Everything you need to know about long-acting contraceptives.
Does insertion hurt?
A brief cramping sensation is common during insertion, similar to period cramps. Local anaesthetic can be used. Most women find the discomfort short-lived and manageable.
How soon does protection start?
Copper IUDs work immediately. Hormonal IUDs and implants start working immediately if inserted within the first 7 days of your cycle. Otherwise use a backup method for 7 days.
How long does removal take?
Removal typically takes a few minutes and is simpler than insertion. A trained provider gently withdraws the device. Mild cramping may follow but passes quickly.
When will my fertility return?
Fertility usually returns within a few weeks of removal, regardless of how long the LARC was in place. LARCs do not affect long-term fertility.
What are the most common side effects?
Copper IUDs may initially cause heavier periods. Hormonal IUDs and implants often reduce period bleeding over time. Irregular spotting is common in the first 3-6 months.
What support is available after insertion?
Zuri's care team is available on WhatsApp for any questions after your procedure. A follow-up consultation is recommended 4-6 weeks after insertion.
